Nina Plantefève-Castryck

Nina Plantefève-Castryck (1996°) lives and works in Ghent. After studying Interior Design in Mechelen, she decided to pursue the liberal arts. She chose to study Ceramics & Glass Art at Luca Ghent, mainly because of the material and three-dimensionality of the medium.

Nina creates modular installations that can take on different compositions depending on the space. Like a living organism or even a landscape that changes with the light in the different seasons.
Landscapes that are ready to grow, blossom, develop, but also to tear, flow, burst and heal again.

They invite us as humans, as spectators, to participate, to interact with them or to immerse ourselves in them.
Nina has a great fascination for textures. Both in slow, natural environments and in the bustling, fast-paced city. On the road, these textures catch her attention and are also a way to slow down and turn inward.

With this collection of textures, she sets to work in her studio and creates her own textures and shapes, in wich the visible craftsmanship of her work forms an important aspect of her artistic practice. Each piece, each shape within an arrangement, is entirely handmade. In this way, Nina seeks a working method in which she can show the material in its purest form and purest beauty.
